Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Thoughts on Tomes. If you want to join or find out more information about the weekly themes check out the Goodreads page! Today’s theme was really fun because I happen to be a May baby and so my birthstone is an emerald!
STOLEN SONGBIRD – This series is so underrated. It has a lot of ratings on Goodreads, but you hardly ever hear anyone talk about these books. Everything about these books is awesome. The premise revolves around a Beauty and the Beast-retelling involving troll, an enemies-to-lovers romance full of angst, magic, and political intrigue. There’s a lot to love in these books and I highly recommend them if you haven’t read them yet!
THE GILDED WOLVES – Roshani Chokshi is a godsend to the YA community. I’ve yet to be disappointed or underwhelmed by one of her books. The heart of this story revolves each of the amazing and diverse characters, and their relationships with each other. I loved the heist aspects and all the little intricacies of the plot that made this a really stunning book.
HONOR’S KNIGHT – This is the second book in the Paradox trilogy, an action-packed adult science-fiction series. I’m extremely picky when it comes to books set in space, and this was everything I could have hoped for and more. With YA books in the genre, I always feel like there’s something missing, but I find a lot of adult sci-fi dense and hard to get in to. This was the perfect blend of what I love about both and I wish I could find more books like it!
A DANGEROUS COLLABORATION – I’m obsessed with the Veronica Speedwell series. If you enjoy: murder mysteries, Victorian-era settings, witty banter, the slowest of slow-burn romances, and a smart, independent heroine, then you need to read these books ASAP. The writing is incredible and I’m almost equal parts impressed and frustrated by my inability to solve the murder or guess correctly before the characters. I usually describe this as the adult version of the Stalking Jack the Ripper series.
STALKING JACK THE RIPPER – Another book series that revolves around historical England, murder mysteries, a smart protagonist, and witty banter between the heroine and love interest. I always tell people that this is the YA version of the Veronica Speedwell series, so if you like one, I guarantee you’ll like the other!
Great list! I love all of these covers! 😍
