I decided I would start this blog with a bang (pun totally intended) and review a recent book that I adored. Tessa Dare has done it again. I have to confess that while I’m a sucker for romance books, typically the serving girl/aristocratic guy trope just doesn’t do it for me. However, I am so glad I convinced myself to pick up this book. This book was such a fantastic read, which is unsurprising considering I’ve loved everything else I’ve read by this author so far. It was funny, emotional, sexy, and entertaining. 

“I think we’ve done enough,” she whispered. “I’m a confirmed disaster.”
“Oh, yes. A comprehensive catastrophe. A beautiful, perfect failure.” He pulled back to regard her. “And I could not be more proud.”

Pauline was such a great character to read. She was bright, witty, caring, and honest…with a tendency to cuss! I don’t often comment that characters remind me of myself, but she totally did. Griffin was completely swoon-worthy, being the slightly arrogant, smart, protective, reserved man that he was. While I had kind of guessed what his secret was, it didn’t make it any less heartbreaking when it was revealed. I also loved the Duchess of Halford. She was such a hoot. The poor woman just wants a grandchild to love and make atrocious looking knittings for!

“Cor.” She unleashed her broadest country accent as she tipped her head to admire the lower curve of his tight, aristocratic arse. “I’ll have great fun with you on the wedding night.”

The banter between Pauline and Griff was fantastic. I was literally laughing out loud at parts and by the second chapter I was hooked. The sex scenes were highly passionate and seriously steamy! The ending was perfect and sweet and I’m looking forward to the next book in this series come fall.
