Book Traveling Thursdays #4 – Book Set in a Fictional World

Book Traveling Thursdays is a weekly meme hosted by Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog and Cátia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much. Each week, you pick a book related to the theme and choose different editions of the cover: the original cover, the cover from your country (if different from the original), your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover. This week’s topic asks us to choose a book set in a fictional world. As an avid fan of fantasy novels, I had plenty to choose from. I decided to go with a favorite of mine and chose The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski. The world-building of those books was so phenomenal and interesting to me, completely drawing me into the intricate plot and storyline. All of the editions of this book were pretty much the same, with slight variations, so it was kind of difficult to pick between them!

This week’s topic is to choose a book written by an author from a country which you don’t read that often. I don’t read very many Australian authors, but I absolutely love Liane Moriarty. Her books always hook me from the first chapter and there’s always a twist or two revealed that I never see coming-which makes for a great book in my opinion! I decided to pick The Husband’s Secret since it was the first book I had read by her (while I was in Australia!) and was one of those books that I spent all night reading.

National Author’s Day was a couple of days ago, so we were asked to pick a book written by one of our favorite authors. I only have a few authors that I absolutely adore, but I decided to choose Mistress of Rome by Kate Quinn. Not only is Kate Quinn one of my favorite authors, but her book is my all time favorite! If anyone is looking to check out an incredible historical fiction book, I highly recommend Mistress of Rome. There are four books in total in the series (I skipped the second though, it’s more of a prequel) and they’re all amazing!

This week’s theme is mental awareness and we were asked to choose a book that deals with mental health. I chose All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. After going through my books, I realized I haven’t read many that focus on mental health, but All the Bright Places stuck out to me the most.
